Already hold a NDIS worker screening clearance issued in another state or territory?

A NDIS worker screening clearance will not be issued in Queensland if you already hold a clearance issued by another state or territory in Australia.

The NDIS worker screening check is nationally recognised, and you can take your clearance with you anywhere in Australia to carry out NDIS work. Your employer/organisation must link to you through the National Worker Screening Database to confirm your clearance status.

For more information about interstate clearance holders, please refer to the dedicated factsheet .

If you are registered for Online Services you can access My Worker portal to:

  • Commence, save and lodge a Disability Worker Screening application (including a combined disability worker screening application and blue card application).
  • Update your personal details including your name, address and contact details
  • View the status of your application
  • Notify of a change in engagement (starting or ending work for an employer/organisation)
  • Request to change from volunteer to paid employment
  • Request a replacement card
  • Withdraw an application that has not yet been decided.

Submitting a renewal application

Is your state-based clearance due for renewal?

On 1 February 2021 a new screening system for the disability sector started in Queensland. This included screening for workers providing state-funded disability supports and services outside the NDIS. We call this a Queensland disability worker screening check.

Examples of workers who need this check are  Queensland Government staff who provide services for people with disability and Queensland Government funded disability advocacy services.

Queensland disability worker screening clearances are valid for three years. This means the first clearances issued will begin to expire from 1 February 2024.

You will be eligible to submit a renewal application up to 90 days before your current clearance card expires. Renewal applications received earlier than this will not be accepted.

Ensuring you submit a valid renewal

To ensure you can continue working, you must submit a valid renewal application. A valid renewal application must consist of the following:

  • Application is submitted prior to the expiry of your previous clearance card,
  • Your payment has been successfully made,
  • Your application has been successfully verified by your nominated employer

Before you start your renewal

Before you apply to renew your Queensland disability worker screening clearance, you should:

  • Check your eligibility
  • Know your TMR Customer Reference Number (CRN)
  • Know your payment options

The quickest and easiest way to renew your clearance is to log into the worker portal and complete the application online. Workers who don’t have online access can apply to renew their clearance using a manual application form.

Requesting to change from volunteer to paid employment

Has your employment status changed from volunteer (unpaid) to paid employment?

The quickest and easiest way to request to change from volunteer to paid employment is to log into the worker portal and complete the application online. When applying online, the fee amount will be calculated automatically based on the time you have left on your current volunteer card.

Workers who don’t have online access can apply to renew their clearance using a manual application form.
